When you think of crochet, you might be picturing one of those big blankets everyone’s grandmas seem to love making, but crochet clothing has been making big waves across social media for the last few years. What started as a popular lockdown hobby has become a high fashion staple of the 2022 runway. Many designers, including Anna Sui, Chloe and Chanel, seem to be just as obsessed as Instagram and TikTok, sporting everything from headwear and accessories to gowns and jackets. A crocheted element is a great way to add texture and vintage flair to any look this spring.

Nothing says spring quite like throwing those thermal tights to the wind and pulling out that cute little dress you've been waiting for months to finally wear. The cut-out dress has become popular among influencers over the last few years, quickly becoming a spring and summer essential. Designers like Valentino, Monse, and more have showcased these wardrobe staples on the catwalk this season. Adding a cutout dress to your spring rotation is a great way to add structure, interest, and flattering shapes.

Skirt sets have been iconic over the last several decades, from the working woman's tailored skirt suit to the ultra-sporty tennis set. There’s something so effortlessly chic about a matching set, and with warmer weather on the way, everyone is eager to hop on the skirt set train. From the classic tweed suits seen on Chanel’s runway during fashion month to the more playful skirt sets from Moschino’s 2022 spring runway, it’s clear matching sets will continue to be a big trend for this year. A skirt set is a low-effort way to put together a perfectly coordinated look.

The throwback looks of the Y2K era have been making waves in the fashion scene for the last few years, and 2022 is no exception. With the rise in popularity of shows like Euphoria, the big names in fashion are taking us back to the early 2000s with baby tees, low-rise skirts, flared pants and midriff-bearing micro tops. If you love nostalgia, the Y2K trend is a great excuse to try something new and fun.

A Spring jacket is a wardrobe essential, and nothing is more classic than the tried and true trench coat. Of course, the classic Burberry trench is a guaranteed sighting at both the spring 2022 runway season and fashion month, but designers like Rick Owens, Givenchy and a slew of others have featured their fair share of the historic coat. A trench is perfect for those rainy days or layered over a sweater for those chillier spring evenings. If you’re in need of a new jacket this spring, a trenchcoat might be the way to go!

Reminiscent of the contrasty colours of the 80s, neon seems to be making a huge comeback for 2022. Vibrant shades of pink, yellow and especially green have been trendy for the last few seasons and sported heavily down the spring and fall runways of big names, including Marques’ Almeida and Jacquemus. So if your winter wardrobe has been feeling a bit toned down, highlighter colours are a great way to brighten up your looks for the warmer weather.

Although the last few years have seen the rise of the tiny baguette bag and micro sunglasses, it might be time to move on to bigger things; Bigger accessories, that is. The 2022 runway seasons have rocked comically large bags, shades, hats, scarves and platform shoes from many designers, including powerhouses like Off-White and Balenciaga. Maybe it’s an overcorrection, but everyone seems eager to finally have purses that can actually carry things and sunglasses that block the sun again.
